Hitting it out of the Park

In addition to the tournaments we host in our phenomenal Sportsplex, our community is home to a variety of unique adventure sports events and tournaments. The Clearwater Kayak Festival hosts scores of kayakers in a weekend summer festival as they race down the mighty and legendary Clearwater River. The Candle Creek Half Marathon sees runners hit the forested mountain trails for a fun and challenging race in August. Para-gliders can enjoy the annual El Nido Fly-In Event. And for an event like you’ve never seen, dress like a Viking and cross-country ski race to victory in the local Birkebiener races hosted by the Wells Gray Outdoors Club.
Atom, PeeWee, Midget and Novice players all hit the ice at the North Thompson Sportsplex. Learn to skate and stick handle. High-five the player who scored the tying goal. Cheer on your favourite team. Snuggle under the heat lamps and take in all the action on the ice. Hockey, figure skating, curling and community events – if it happens on the ice, it happens at the North Thompson Sportsplex.
