Planning on traveling in British Columbia? Plan ahead so you can travel safely and responsibly. On this page, you can learn about the latest updates to provincial health orders & recommendations, air travel, weather alerts, and more current travel info.

NOTICE: The road to Trophy Meadows trailhead will have intermittent closures for up to 3 hours at a time from October 1st through October 24th (Monday to Friday).  

Road travel on weekdays is not recommended until necessary maintenance work is completed.  

If you encounter an active worksite DO NOT APPROACH ANY WORKING EQUIPMENT until you have made contact with the operator and they indicate that it is safe to proceed.

Spahats Viewing platform construction – NOW COMPLETE! – Spring 2025

This spring, BC Parks replaced the Spahats Falls viewing platform to improve accessibility to the nearby trails and rejuvenate aging facilities. The Spahats Forest Loop, and all other trails in the vicinity are now open for the public to enjoy.

HELMCKEN FALLS VIEWING PLATFORM CONSTRUCTION NOW COMPLETE!
BC Parks has replaced the Helmcken Falls viewing platform with a new, fully accessible viewing platform, day-use area, trail and views of the waterfall. The new viewing platform is now open and available for all to enjoy

Venture Prepared

For those venturing into Wells Gray Provincial Park, please note that there is no cell reception in the park. There is also no gas service. Please fill-up or plug-in your vehicle in Clearwater before heading into the Park. Ensure that your contacts know where you are going and when you plan to return.

Access Through the Seasons

The road to Wells Gray Park is open and maintained to Helmcken Falls throughout the winter. The road access from Helmcken Falls to Clearwater Lake is closed in the winter and re-opens for full Park access from mid-May until the end of October.
